DTaaS is a term coined by Malabar Drones, alongside DDaaS (Drone Demo as a Service). It began as a way to fix how drone knowledge reaches customers — and has grown into the training model we now deliver to campuses across Southern India and, through remote programs, anywhere in the world.
DTaaS (Drone Training as a Service) complements the industry's DaaS (Drone as a Service) model. It is sector-agnostic — adaptable to agriculture, surveying, logistics, photography, education, or any other segment of the drone ecosystem. The premise is simple: drone skills transfer best when training is structured, local, hands-on, and paced over time — not compressed into a rushed one-day session far from where the learner actually operates.
Today, DTaaS has two homes: educational institutions, where we deliver it as campus programs on a prepaid daily, weekly or monthly cadence — and drone OEMs, where we run product training for their customers as a managed service.
The typical one- or two-day OEM training session is cumbersome for customers. Demo locations are inconvenient, videos and presentations run long and age quickly, and sessions get rushed — so learners absorb only the features that seem critical in the moment. Back in the field, real-world scenarios expose the gaps, and support lines fill up with calls that better training would have prevented. In the Indian context, with a largely non-AI-savvy and non-web-savvy customer base, over-automating this away simply doesn't work. People learn from people.
Every drone platform has undocumented "treasures" — capabilities left out of manuals to prevent misuse or incorrect operation. Trained personnel who understand both the machine and the customer's specific field conditions can judge when a scenario calls for one of these features, and teach it correctly. That judgment is exactly what a service layer provides and a PDF cannot.
An OEM's internal training staff works well for B2B sales, where one session serves many participants. For B2C customers scattered across districts, though, online sessions and trips to the manufacturer's site cause fatigue on both sides — repetitive demos for the trainer, long journeys for the learner. Demand for training rises and falls with sales cycles and seasons; a permanent internal team is either overstretched or idle. DTaaS absorbs that fluctuation: training capacity you book when you need it, where your customers are.
The Model NowThe same philosophy — structured, local, hands-on, paced — is what our campus programs are built on. Demo Days introduce the machines; Workshop Weeks and Semester Electives build real skill with logged flying hours; Faculty Development Programmes leave teaching capability behind on your campus. All programs are prepaid and delivered in English, Kannada or Hindi. See the full program catalogue →
We conduct your product trainings close to your customers' locations, spread over a timeframe that suits how people actually learn. You build rapport and trust with your clientele; you save the logistics cost and the internal-resource drain of doing it yourself. Post-sale servicing coordination and demo support can be bundled. Monthly slots can be booked in advance — prepaid, like everything we do.
Ground school travels well. For institutions and partners outside our field range, we deliver live online regulatory and mission-planning modules, run train-the-trainer programs that hand over full curriculum kits, and take short-format bootcamps on the road internationally with compliance planned jointly in advance.
